Options - Security
There are two sections on this tab, Virus Protection and Secure Mail. Both relate to the security of your computer when opening e-mails and attachments. We will look at the top one first: ** Virus Protection - Internet explorer works with security zones and Outlook Express works with those zones and this option asks you which Internet Explorer zone you would like to work with, I have elected to work with the restricted sites zone as it is more secure than the Internet zone but both have their uses. You also have the option of being warned if other applications send e-mails as you, this would more than likely refer to some virus or addware activity on your computer so this could be a good item to have checked. Attachments that come with some e-mails can contain viruses and should never be opened unless you are really sure of the source. checking the Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus is a good step towards fixing that. ** Secure Mail - Digital ID's were brought out so that web sites and ordinary people could identify themselves and ensure their e-mails were more secure than e-mails without them and the recipient can ensure that the e-mail is from who it says it is. The three buttons can take to a lot more information regarding a digital ID than I can give here. The last two options are relating to sending your e-mail with a digital ID attached, if you don't have one or don't want one then leaving these two options unchecked can't do any harm. The Advanced button is also relating to settings when using a digital ID.
