Options - Read

The Options Read Tab

The items on the read tab shown on the right are all relating to how the e-mails are displayed. All these are the default settings (the settings made when it was installed) but the main ones work as follows:

** Mark messages read after displaying for 5 seconds - This will open the small envolope next to it to say that it has been opened and read 5 seconds after you start to read the e-mail. The counter allows you to change the length of time this happens in.

** Automatically expand grouped messages - There are times when you chat with a group, (for example when I was doing the Learn Direct online tutor course I had to be in contact via e-mail with all members of the group I was with) e-mails can be grouped together and checking this option will expand the meassages in that group.

** Automatically download message when viewing in the preview pane - Checking this will automatically display the body (message the e-mail contains) in the preview when you click on the header in the e-mail list pane. Leaving this unchecked means that you will have to double click on the e-mail header in order to open it.

** Get NNN headers at a time - This option refers to newsgroup messages and the counter allows you to regulate the number of newsgroup headers you download at one time. Newsgroups are introduced by clicking here.

All the rest on this tab are pretty self explanatory and you can't really go wrong experimenting with them.
