On the top right is an example of the e-mail list window, (where the e-mails drop into when you look for new ones).

You can see a small picture of an envolope before each one of them, this envelope is open and shows that the e-mail has been read.

On the bottom right is an example of the e-mail list window but the top one is now unread, (the picture is of a closed enelope).

This would also be reflected in the folder window as it would show a number one in brackets (1) that signifies that there is one message in that folder that has not been read.
