Indentation To select a section of text such as the paragraph in the example below: 1. Place the mouse pointer (which will look like a blinking I bar) just before the first letter of the paragraph you wish to format. In the examples below I placed the Ibar just before the V in Venus 2. Press and hold down the left mouse button 3. Whilst holding down the left mouse button, drag the mouse pointer (now an I bar) to the end and just after the last letter of the paragraph(s) you wish to format. In the example below I released the left mouse button just as I highlighted (selected) the full stop You should noe have a highlighted paragraph that you can indent similar to that shown below.
You will notice in the above example that the middle paragraph is indented (pushed further into the page than the others). You may wish to indent a paragraph to emphasise a particular section of your document such as something some has said or written, (for example, I may have copied the paragraph from a book and need to show that). Indentation is done in the following way: 1. Highlight (select) the paragraph you wish to indent (see above for how to do this) 2. Click on the Increase indent button (shown on the example above) 3. The selected paragraph should be indented as many spaces as specified in the setting but they will be the same as mine if you haven't changed them. 4. If you wish to indent the paragraph more just click on the Increase indent button again Right next to the Increase indent button to teh left-hand saide of it is the Decrease indent button, clicking on this will move the paragraph to the left the same number of spaces that you moved it to the right, (the same as undoing the Increase indent) and repeated clicking on the Decrease indent will move the slected paragraph to the left until it reaches the left margin.
