Using Text Some of the objects or scenes that we create in Corel Draw would be further enhanced and more interesting with the addition of some text, For example on a notice board we have drawn or a sign post we have placed in our drawing. The example on the right shows an example of the text tool and some text and is used in the following way:
1. Click on the text Button as shown in the example on the right 2. Move the mouse pointer into the work area, it will become a small cross with an A near it 3. Click where you wish to type the text 4. A small flashing vertical bar will appear where you clicked, this is the text cursor and everything you type will appear at the point where thius text cursor is. 5. Type whatever you need to type, in the example on the right I have typed Dusty's World. How to colour text: 1. You need to select the text tool so click on it to select it 2. Place the mouse pointer at the very beginning of the section of text you wish to change the colour of 3. Press and hold down the left mouse button 4. Keeping the left mouse button pressed, drag the mouse pointer across the text you wish to change the colour of 5. The text you wish to change the colour of should now be higlighted, click on one of the colours in the colour pallette NOTE:- If you have not changed the default layout, the colour pallette will be a vertical bar down the righ-hand side of the scrren If the text is not in exactly the right position after you have typed it: 6. Place the mouse pointer (or cross with an A near it) in the centre of the text and press and hold the left mouse button when it changes into a small cross 7. Keeping the left mouse button pressed move the mouse to position the text where you wish it to be 8. If the text is too large or too small use the sizing handles (see below) to change the text to fit into the object Using the sizing handles When an object is selected, as in the example above, there are siz small black squares around it, these are sizing handles and used for resizing the selected object. The top and bottom centre handles will resize (scale) thew object up and down, (taller or smaller) The side centre handles will resize (scale) the object sidways, (wider or narrower) the corner handles will resize (scale) the object proportionately, (all sides will be resized (scaled) equally without going wider or narrower or higher or smaller.
