Internet Options privacy tab

This tab is where you set the level of security for the web sites you visit relatig to cookies.

Cookies are not those the americans eat but small bits of code (a program) that is placed on your hard disk when you visit a web site in order to record your viewing preferences when on that web site.

Now, I haven't seen any evidence to suggest that cookies are nothing more than what they are and there is nothing to worry about regarding them. Yes, my spyware scans will bring them up as a threat because they do perform activity recording operations for the web site you are on at the tie but not as a real threat to all your online activities.

The slider will allow you to block cookies at various levels, for example, as shown, the Medium setting blocks:

** Third party cookies that do not have a compact privacy policy

** Blocks third party cookies that use personally identifiable information without your implicit consent

** Restricts first party cookies that use personally identifiable information without implicit consent

Moving the slider right up to the top will give restrictions of Blocking All Cookies

** Cookies from all web sites will be blocked

** Existing cookies on your computer cannot be read by web sites

NOTE:- What we have done here that as cookies are an inevitable part of Internet life and it appears that you cannot view most if not all web sites without having cookies enabled, you will not be able to traverse the Internet enjoyably with this setting.

At the other extreme, moving the slider all the way to the bottom will allow no control at all over the placing of cookies on your hard disk. It provides the followin lack of restrictions:

** All cookies will be saved on this computer

** Existing cookies on this computer can be read by the web site that created them.
