25 pin printer connector (parallel)

The D-Type connector (shown right ) is mainly used to connect the monitor to the system unit and the printer to the system unit. At one time the mouse also used be connected by a D-Type serial connector but has been replaced by PS/2 and USB connectors.

This connector was originally known as the RS232 serial connector. eventually, it became known as the D-type connector and was a very common connector for Personal Computers (PC's). They range in pin configurations of:

* 9 pins -- Mouse

* 15 pins -- Monitor

* 25 pins -- Printer

Which cover the main parts of the computer system.
